Harrington

Croki, on Jones Island, is a sleepy riverside village surrounded by lush dairy farms and spectacular scenery and just a 10-minute drive north of Taree. There is a jetty to fish from, a shaded picnic area and a portion of the Manning River is fenced off for swimming. Accomodation at Croki includes a riverside caravan park and holiday cottage.
Since colonial days the seaside village of Harrington has witnessed the ebb and flow of history. At the northern mouth of the Manning River, the village is known today as a holiday haven. In 1894 the long breakwall was built to protect the entry channel for shipping, now it serves as a great tourist walk. The adjacent Pilot Hill Lookout provides expansive views over the river delta and the graves on this hill bear witness to the pilots whose task was to guide the boats over the bar. Close-by, over 50 ships foundered between 1824 and 1941 and three wrecks still lie under the sand today.
Harrington's relaxed seaside lifestyle is a welcome escape from the frantic pace of everyday life. Stroll along waterside pathways, rest in riverside parks and enjoy a casual lunch of fish and chips or, if a-la-carte is more to your taste, visit the local restaurants, hotel or club.
